Our Story

Olinda Ridge Olive Company handcrafts some of the best extra virgin olive oils in the world, straight from Northern California. We use natural and sustainable farming methods and a small batch-crafted process to ensure that our extra virgin olive oils have superb flavor, are of the freshest and highest quality, and maximize health benefits.


Our Passion for Quality


We are a small family-owned and operated producer of olive oil. Our company is named after both the town and road where we first started out. Olinda, located in Shasta County, contains some of the most northerly located commercial olive groves in California. The valley is a region of small family farms and working class neighborhoods. In total, we own and manage several organic certified orchards in Northern California (Shasta and Butte counties) totaling over 130 acres and 9000 trees. More than 100 years old, our olive trees are primarily of the mission and manzanillo varietals. In addition, we also press olives from local ranches that follow sustainable agriculture practices.


We take pride and care in every step of the olive oil making process, from handpicking the olives to bottling the oil. First we practice organic and sustainable farming methods to produce the freshest, healthiest olives. We then hand pick the olives straight from our groves, minimizing leaves, dirt and damage. The olives are picked and pressed immediately to preserve freshness. The olive oil is then stored in stainless steel tanks in cool temperatures. We only bottle when we need to fulfill orders or send product to the markets. Since our products are made in California, it means shorter transport times within the domestic United States and, therefore, fresher products to the consumer.



Due to the careful harvesting and processing of the olives, our extra virgin olive oils test at an acidity rate of .3% or less — much lower than the .8% requirement. Our special method also gives our olive oil a high polyphenol count, which maximizes anti-oxidants and their associated health benefits. The result: the highest quality, certified extra virgin olive oil with superb taste and great nutritional value.

Olinda Ridge extra virgin olives oils have been recognized by the experts as among the very best as we continue to win major awards in international olive oil competitions. Some of our most recent gold medals were awarded in the Olive Oils of the World Competition (L.A. County Fair) and Las Vegas International Restaurant Show.

Olinda Ridge Olive Company is a member of the California Olive Oil Council (COOC), an organization providing a Seal Certification program guaranteeing fresh, quality extra virgin olive oils made in California. Our organic products are certified by California Certified Organic Farmers and are USDA-approved organic.


Our Commitment to the Community


Olinda Ridge strives to be an active member in our community. We foster sustainable farming methods and don’t pollute the farm with inorganic pesticides, thus keeping a balanced ecosystem. You’ll find us at various local farmers markets in Northern California where we educate consumers on the uses, taste profiles and health benefits of extra virgin olive oil. We also give back to community by supporting fundraisers through sponsored events and by hiring locally for our picking, processing, bottling and sales functions.


A Winning Balance of Healthy and Delicious


Olinda Ridge provides a range of extra virgin olive oil to match diverse preferences. We also produce and distribute other fine gourmet and organic products such as vinegars.


Estate Organic

Our organic olive oil is a mission/manzanillo blend produced using the integrale method, a process in which the olives are depitted before being processed. This ensures the lowest acidity possible in an olive oil and results in the highest polyphenol count and antioxidants. In addition, we harvest our organic olive oil earlier in the season when the olives are greener.


Late Harvest Gold

Our Late Harvest Gold is harvested later in the season and provides a smoother, milder olive oil. The major varietal is manzanillo, which, when harvested later in the season (when the olives are black), creates the smoother and milder olive oil, but is still very flavorful.


Master Blend

Our Master Blend is a great tasting olive oil that is created using a wide range of varietals. Each year we select olives from various areas in Northern California to produce a blend that is bold, robust and traditional.


Vinegars

Our award-winning extra virgin olive oils make a great pairing with our California gourmet vinegars. Our line of vinegars is made for us in the famous Napa and Sonoma counties. We carefully select flavor profiles that complement our olive oils, which include our most popular Pomegranate, Dark Balsamic, and Golden Balsamic vinegars.
